Moonline RP Rules

Moonline is an IC first, cinematic roleplay experience built on collaboration, immersion, and respect. These rules protect the story, not restrict it.

Stay Up Past Reality

Everything in Moonline should support believable, collaborative scenes. The baseline is simple: play your character honestly, protect the shared story, and do not use roleplay as cover for disruptive behavior.

If your actions would ruin the story for others, do not do them.

Core Priorities

IC First No Meta No Forced Outcomes Value Life Respect Others Support The Story
1. General Conduct

In Character First, Always

  • Everything in-game is IC (In Character). No OOC (Out of Character) chat, no global chat, and no breaking character.
  • OOC respect is mandatory at all times. IC conflict is allowed when it serves the story, not as cover for harassment.
  • Harassment, hate speech, and toxicity are not tolerated in any form.
  • Disruptive behavior such as griefing, trolling, or baiting is not roleplay.
  • Follow staff direction. Staff are there to protect the story, not to win scenes.
2. Roleplay Etiquette

No Meta, No Forced Outcomes

  • No metagaming. Your character only knows what they realistically learned in RP.
  • No powergaming. You cannot force reactions, injuries, emotions, or memory loss onto others.
  • No RDM (Random Deathmatch). Killing or attacking another player without valid roleplay context and escalation is prohibited.
  • No VDM (Vehicle Deathmatch). Using vehicles as weapons to ram, run over, or kill players without valid roleplay context is prohibited.
  • Roleplay is collaborative. Leave room for other players to respond and shape the scene.
  • Respect scene boundaries, themes, and pacing. Not every moment needs escalation.
Identification rules
  • No voice identification.
  • Clothing identification only works if the character was previously arrested or formally identified in that exact outfit.
  • Distinctive tattoos can provide investigative leads when they are clearly visible, unique, and realistically recognizable.
  • Lighting, distance, movement, masks, and clothing all affect whether a tattoo could actually be recognized.
Amnesia mechanic
  • Amnesia comes from the city mechanic or the player's own decision, never from another player.
  • If the system applies memory loss, you must roleplay it.
  • You cannot force a memory wipe onto someone else.
  • Memory recovery must happen through roleplay, not an OOC shortcut.
3. Storytelling & Immersion

Cinematic, Grounded, Character-Driven

  • Major storylines should involve consent, communication, and shared intent.
  • Players do not need permission for roleplay that already follows the rules.
  • Players should not ask for permission to break or bend rules.
  • Large-scale or server-impacting arcs may be shared with staff for visibility and support, not permission.
  • Drama, conflict, and consequences are valid when they serve the narrative.
The goal is a compelling story, not dominance or victory.
4. Not Valuing Life (NVL)

Value Of Life

Your character is not invincible. If a real person would fear death or serious injury, you must roleplay that fear.

  • Comply in life-threatening situations such as being held at gunpoint, facing armed numbers, major crashes, active gunfire, or lethal falls.
  • If you would realistically be hurt, act hurt. Limp, lose function, pass out, or require medical care when appropriate.
  • You cannot ignore danger, act fearless, or treat death like a reset button.
Not allowed
  • Jumping off bridges or cliffs to escape RP.
  • Driving into water to avoid arrest.
  • Charging armed players alone.
  • Walking off major injuries with no consequences.
Gunpoint rule

If a gun is on you, your life is at risk. You either comply or accept being shot and roleplay the injuries or death that follow.

5. Character Creation & Continuity

Believable Characters Only

  • Characters must fit the setting and remain grounded.
  • Avoid offensive caricatures and copycat characters.
  • Multiple characters are allowed, but their stories cannot overlap or leak information between each other.
  • Your history, injuries, reputation, and memory state persist.
  • City-applied amnesia is part of continuity and must be honored.
6. Communication & Community

Presence Matters

  • Voice and proximity chat are always in character.
  • No yelling, spamming, soundboards, or disruptive audio.
  • No NSFW content in public spaces.
  • Be welcoming to new players.
  • Chill does not mean disengaged. Bring energy, intention, and presence.
7. Fair Play & Staff

Protect The Integrity Of The Server

  • No cheating, exploits, unfair mods, or external advantages.
  • No stream sniping or sharing private information.
  • Do not resolve OOC issues through IC revenge.
  • Report concerns to staff quietly and respectfully.
  • Staff decisions are final, though thoughtful feedback is welcome.
8. The Moonline Spirit

Keep It Cinematic. Keep It Human.

Moonline separates character behavior from player behavior. Your character may lie, threaten, manipulate, and escalate conflict. You may not use roleplay as a shield for OOC hostility, targeting, or harassment.

Moonline is about escape, creativity, and shared moments. Keep it cinematic. Keep it weird. Keep it human.

Stay up past reality.
